Silway 718 is intended for waterproofing of mineral substrates, in particular roofing tiles and common brick. When diluting Silway 718 the product must be added into demineralized water under vigorous stirring. The recommended dilution rate ranges from 1:10 - 1:100, the ideal dilution rate for best performance depends on the mineral substrate.
The amount to be applied depends to a large extent on how absorbent the substrate is and should be tested inadvance. For the treatment of common brick a dilution rate of 1:20 is generally recommended at a consumption rate of appr. 0,3 - 0,4 l/m².
As a surface treatment in applications that utilize its ability to impart a water repellent surface and reduce water absorption.
For use on bricks, sandstone, limestone, and ceramics.
Reduces water absorption into the substrate, thus reducing spalling due to freeze-thaw and efflorescence, thereby increasing the life of the substrate
Colorless and non-yellowing protection preserves the natural appearance of the substrate

Silway 718 should only be applied on fully cured substrates. Silway 718 can be applied on new and old substrates.
Performance tests should be conducted 14 days after application.
The surfaces to be treated should be air-dry and clean in order to ensure deep penetration. Dust, grease, oil, overgrowth, etc. have to be cleaned off beforetreatment. Surface cleaning methods include suitable sandblasting, water blasting or washing and chemical cleaning. Best performance is achieved on a dry surface. During application the temperature of the substrate should be within the range of +4 to +40 °C. Protect against rain after application for at least 4 hours.
Silway 718 is best applied by dipping the substrate into the solution of the product or by using low pressure
pumping equipment with a wet fan type spray nozzle. The time allowed for dipping depends on how absorbent
the substrate is. Contact times can range from 5 s up to several minutes. All equipment and containers must be clean and dry. After use they can be cleaned with water.
It is recommended to cover all substrates that are sensitive towards alkaline material. Substrates such as glass, wood, plastic and metal cannot be treated with Silway 718. The formation of white deposits on these surfaces will be observed. Plants in the vicinity of the application area should be protected.
Silway 718 should be applied in a well vented environment. The treated product should not be covered in an air-tight plastic foil immediately after application. The treatment of pigmented surfaces with dilutions of Silway 718 should be evaluated in advance. Generally, it is recommended to apply the diluted product on a small test
patch first for a compatibility check.
